Onwards & Upwards!
After almost a year of preparing my initial manuscript for Heft and a further couple of months going through the editing process with the wonderful Elizabeth Rimmer, my final MS is now with my publisher, Red Squirrel Press.
Anyone who's been through this process will know how intense it can be and how it takes over everything else, particularly your own writing. My output this year has certainly suffered so it's great to look forward to some creative time before the launch of Heft (and all the associated readings) takes over again!
I'm looking forward to StAnza in March as well. This is has been an annual pilgrimage for me for some time now. This year I'll be sharing digs with fellow Squirrels Kemal Houghton & Edwin Stockdale and their partners Caroline and Alan. It's got to be a great way to welcome in Spring.
Meanwhile I'm delighted to have been commissioned to write a poem for StAnza 2020 so my festive writing will certainly have some focus.
I'm also really pleased to have heard from Poetry Salzburg Review today with a triple acceptance for Issue 36 due Spring 2020. It's exciting to appear in a journal I've been reading for so many years.
What an odd and, in a lot of ways, disappointing year 2019 has been. I'm not sure what 2020 will hold for the arts, I suspect Boris Johnson isn't a great reader of poetry.
Either way have a great festive season and, hopefully I'll see you at one of next years readings.
