Ilkley Literature Festival 2017

It's that time of year when I start looking forward to Callander Poetry Weekend. How Sally Evans puts this on year after year is remarkable, she is such a gift to the world of poetry! I'm very much looking forward to reading at the launch of The Bees Breakfast anthology on Saturday 2nd September and my own reading slot on Sunday 3rd.

Steve Regan will be joining the merry throng on Saturday for the first time & reading on Sunday (I hope Scotland has enough red wine or there'll be trouble!). It was thanks to Steve I found out that a fire at The Dreadnought had resulted in it closing until next March. It would have been nice if the owners had told me my booking wouldn't be honoured, nevertheless I managed to get a room elsewhare so no damage done (apart from double the cost!!).

My web site has been updated, something long overdue, particulalrly the Events listing. I'm delighted that George Horsman has asked me to read at the Heswall Atrs festival again this year.

I'm particularly looking forward to representing Red Squirrel Press at the Ilkely Literature Festival on Saturday 14th October. Many thanks to Sheila Wakefield for asking me.

The event is the Chapbook Battle (for chapbooks & pamphlets), one entry per publisher.

The judge is the festival's writer in residence for 2017, Daljit Nagra.

One final arty type plug for your October diaries, namely Originals@Chester Town Hall. This takes place on friday 27th and Saturday 28th October between 10:00 and 17:00 each day. There are some amazing artists exhibiting and this will be well worth going along to - you'll probably find me there on one of the days too but don't let that put you off!!

Zoom has loomed large in the lives of all poets in the last year or so. To be honest I'll be grateful to get back to 'normal' later this year. In the meantime what will probably be my last Zoom readin
